An audiovisual collaboration with saxophonist and composer Caroline Davis at Nublu for NYC Winter Jazzfest. The piece translates breath, pulse, and improvisation into image and light, treating the stage as a moving installation. Video direction by Tropidarks. Shot live at Nublu, New York.
Collaboration x Caroline Davis at Nublu that treats portals as thresholds of mind and time. The visuals frame entry and exit points for memory, loss, becoming, and return, asking how music can open passageways rather than depict a single place.
In this work, portals are not destinations but hinges. Each portal marks a shift in attention, a cut in time, a breath that lets another self step forward. The visual language uses recurrence and interruption to suggest transit without illustration: grief into clarity, distance into nearness, city into island, past into present. Portals function as invitations to cross, not images to consume. They open and close perception so the performance unfolds as a series of entries, where sound calls the threshold and image names the direction.
