struggling with existing in two places at once
Ínsula is an experimental short that explores the subconscious of a woman divided between two places. The film moves between coastal Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico with studio sequences in Brooklyn, translating the psychic drift of dual belonging into image and sound. Shot in Punta Cana and Macao in the Dominican Republic, in Carolina, Puerto Rico, and at Chemistry Creative in Brooklyn, the 8:47-minute piece layers HD and SD textures to mirror memory’s shifting surfaces. Preview screening: Performance Space New York, Open Room, April 7, 2023
